Evolution of a Journal Page

For my daily journal page today, I started off with a scribble of Neocolor II in scarlet. I suspect this was inspired by the Strathmore online workshop video I watched yesterday of the abstract work by Robert Joyner.

Then I added some Dioxazine Purple (Golden heavy body) with a sponge applicator.

Following that I added a wash (thinned with water) of Quinacridone Red . . .

I finished the page off by spraying over wine bottle protectors with Liquitex Professional Spray Paint in Titanium White, and then on top of that I sprayed over a Martha Stewart die-cut scrapbook page with the Liquitex spray paint in Transparent Black. If it had more time I’d probably add some doodles–but I gotta admit I think it looks kinda cool just as it is. The spray paints are fantastic and the spray is well contained–not a lot of spread out to the sides.

One of the things I find most fascinating about this is the way the transparent black sits underneath the first spray I did with the titanium white. I think I will get the opaque black spray next to see if that makes it come to the surface more.
